Graham Canwell

Graham Canwell

His work is largely figurative and  often  inspired by poetry, song- lyrics and sometimes even film dialogue.  Recent work centres around portraiture and has made use of many of his family and close friends as subjects for scrutiny, not always flatteringly, but that, as they say is Art !. His final Masters exhibition featured several works from this sequence and culminated in a self-portrait on a particularly large scale…

He has exhibited work on several occasions in the North-East and intend to establish him as a freelance illustrator, fine artist and graphic designer. He is working to create a wide and varied collection of paintings and drawings for exhibition.

He briefly signed-up for a second Masters, this time  in Concept Art ,but  have most recently allied him with a small group of fellow arts practitioners with the aim of  bringing the contemporary Northern art scene to the nation’s attention… a  necessary and vital challenge!.

Graham Canwell is inspired by Goldstein’s flamboyant outfits and bold attitude, creating a series of paintings that portray him in a raw, realistic way, in an attempt to capture the essence of his unique personality.
