Raffaella Miotello

Is an Italian artist and portrait painter, whose central interest lies in creating works of art using pencil, which revitalize the body through the exclusive use of pencil strokes. A fashion expert and former model, she is a Professor in Semiotics of the Body and Artistic Anatomy in Venice’s Academy of Fine Arts. She is dedicated to studying the body and its contemporary appearance, as well as dress codes, behavior analysis and implications related to social analysis.

For HG Issue she wrote about Inge Jacobsen series “Stitching under the skin” and Scout Paré-Phillips “Impressions on flesh”.

  • AFTER FREUD

    After Freud series, just like its name indicates, pays homage to Freud’s aesthetics through the lens of fashion, offering a different perspective on his work. The title also serves as a wink to the celebrated After Watteau and After Cézanne Freud’s paintings, his personal tribute to the two aforementioned famous artists.
