Colette Art Drive-Thru at Art Basel Miami

Colette, the famous Parisian concept store, takes over Art Basel Miami (December 2–8, 2013) with a pop up Art Drive-Thru, in collaboration with Miami’s pioneering fashion shop Alchemist. As the people form Colette explain, the visitors of the installation will have the chance to drive up, order from a virtual menu of specially curated items and wait for a car hop on roller skates to bring out the order. But rather than malts, burgers and fries, shoppers will access a wide range of exclusive pieces from some of the hottest names in art, design and fashion, from Jeff Koons to Sophie Call. Among the highlights we find Kenzo for Toilet Paper iPhone cases, limited edition photos and prints by and André, Farhad Moshiri, Xavier Veilhan and Gianni Motti, a series of multicolored bags by Sam Falls, a candle that can be used as a vase by Zaha Hadid, a perspective scarf by Ai Weiei, t-shirts by Todd James, Damien Hirst and James Franco, clutches by Yazbukey and Yves Klein inspired sunglasses by Etnia Barcelona. Last but not least, there will also be up for sale a special edition of co-branded drive-thru items, from mugs to post cards, designed by Yorgo & Co, who are in charge of the art direction of this special project.

Colette Art Drive-Thru is installed in the Carpark adjacent to Alchemist on the fifth floor of 1111 Lincoln Road, the astounding concrete structure by Herzog & de Meuron, and is designed by architect Rene Gonzalez, who was honored with a National AIA Award for the interior design of Alchemist. “The collaboration was born out of a mutual respect for what we both do in retail, and an urge to do something out of the box,” explained Alchemist founders Erika and Roma Cohen to style.com. Colette and Alchemist Art Drive Thru is one of the best art and fashion collaborations of this year, in perfect match with the Art Basel Miami frenzy. The pop-up store will remain open until December 7, so if you are in town it’s certainly worth a visit.
