Dior Homme celebrates its autumn 2014 collection with an exclusive installation by M/M (Paris)

Dior Homme’s Kris Van Assche hosted on April 25 a cocktail event at the brand’s flagship boutique in SoHo, featuring a site specific installation by the celebrated art and design duo M/M (Paris), to celebrate the arrival of the Dior Homme autumn 2014 collection in New York. The installation, which will be on display inside Dior Homme SoHo store for one month, is an extension of the large format, photographic catalogue envisioned by Dior Homme creative director, Kris Van Assche, and created for the collection by M/M (Paris), in collaboration with photographer Karim Sadli. “In this collection Kris Van Assche pays homage to his years studying in Antwerp and to his memories of the graphics department. We have reflected this idea by devising a pageant of light effects, like something that students might have created,” said M/M (Paris), who used for their installation 26 cylindrical standing lamps, each marked with a different letter of the alphabet, creating an amazing lighting effect.

“This installation in SoHo reflects my plan to show every Dior Homme collection in a way that is both unusual and particularly appropriate. The entire concept coordinates the world of the autumn 2014 collection with the way it was staged with M/M (Paris),” said Kris Van Assche, whose collection was inspired by “the notion of a man who is in the midst of a group but is still able to express his individual persona”. The cocktail event was followed by a private dinner at ACME NYC, with Kris Van Assche, Michael Amzalag and Mathias Augustyniak of M/M (Paris), Sean Avery, Peter Brant, Jr., DJ Jesse Marco, Stephanie LaCava and Shala Monroque, all wardrobed by Dior and Dior Homme. Other notable guests in attendance included Yoann Lemoine (Woodkid), Karl Templer, Jim Nelson, Collier Schorr and Tom Guinness.
