H&M collaborates with Jeff Koons for a limited edition handbag

In celebration of the opening of its new, museum-inspired flagship store on 5th Avenue, New Work, on July 17, 2014, fashion giant H&M has launched its first ever artist collaboration with one of the most prominent artists of our time, Jeff Koons. Koons designed for the occasion a limited edition leather handbag that features his now iconic Balloon Dog, available for $49.95 at selected H&M stores in Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas, as well as online at www.hm.com beginning July 17, 2014. What’s more, in homage to the artist, the facade of the new 57,000 square feet H&M 5th Avenue store will be decorated with giant Balloon Dogs, offering customers the unique opportunity to experience the work of a celebrated contemporary artist of this caliber.

“The partnership with H&M was really exciting for me and the chance to showcase one of my most popular works to a new generation of people was inspiring. H&M delivers great fashion season after season and it’s nice to see my work at their new store,” Koons said on the collaboration. “It is such an honor to have the vision of this prolific and world renowned artist on display and as the storefront facade of the new H&M Fifth Avenue,” added Daniel Kulle, U.S. President for H&M. The release coincides with Koon’s retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Arts, which is about open on June 27, 2014. A select number of the limited edition handbags will also be sold at the Whitney during the exhibition.
