Louis Vuitton teams up with Ruben Toledo for a limited edition box set

Louis Vuitton pays homage to New York-based Cuban painter, illustrator and sculptor Ruben Toledo, who is also the creative partner and husband of fashion designer Isabel Toledo, with a limited edition monograph that compiles the artist’s illustrations for the famous Louis Vuitton City Guide series from 2000 to 2012. Louis Vuitton’s travel guides explore each year new urban destinations and so far have covered 21 of the world’s greatest cities, among them New York, Paris, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Sydney, Los Angeles, São Paulo, Singapore, Berlin, Moscow, Seoul, Milan, Miami, Tokyo, Mexico City, Beijing, Venice and Athens.

Toledo’s monograph comes in a box set that includes a 138-page book with more than 100 illustrations, as well as 15 drawings printed on pure cotton (Canson Infinit ByKF Rives) paper, numbered and signed by the artist. What’s more, Toledo has customized each box set’s cover with an original drawing, making it a true collector’s dream. “My aim is to paint a portrait of a city and to draw out its special and eternal essence; to capture the unique tempo and character of each,” explains Ruben Toledo. Each box set is limited to 30 individually numbered copies and is available via pre-order in select Louis Vuitton stores for $9,000.
