Moncler Blackout by photographer Dan Holdsworth

Moncler has teamed up with British photographer Dan Holdsworth for a traveling photography exhibition and a capsule collection that pays tribute to the majesty of nature, a constant inspiration and source of challenge for the French luxury outwear label. The collection reproduces one of Holdsworth’s images, featuring a view of the shrinking glaciers of Iceland, throughout a selection of down-filled jackets and snow pants, as well as a series of accessories including shoes, bags and a clutch bag.

The shot forms part of Holdsworth’s “Blackout” exhibition back in 2010 and is an excellent representative of the technique used in his photos. The photographer works with exposure over many hours and reduced light in order to create an x-ray effect in his photos, with the sky’s blue color turning into black and the ground appearing in negative. The result is a series of otherworldly images that stand between reality and fantasy, with the Icelandic glaciers transformed into a science-fiction landscape.

Moncler launched the collection at its Montenapoleone store during Milan Fashion Week, accompanied by an in-store exhibition of Holdsworth’s images that will travel the world and a corresponding book, featuring an essay by writer and editor Oliver Morton. The Dan Holdsworth x Moncler Blackout collection is available to buy now at Moncler’s flagship stores around the globe, as well as online.
