Rag & Bone’s portrait photography series by Andreas Laszlo Konrath

Choosing a rather unconventional way to showcase its s/s 2015 menswear collection, New York-based brand Rag & Bone recently inaugurated a portrait photography exhibition by renowned photographer Andreas Laszlo Konrath at the DIA Center in Chelsea. The exhibition featured 15 key looks of Rag & Bone’s new line-up, as worn by the brand’s friends and muses, including comedian Jerry Seinfeld, NBA star Carmelo Anthony, Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, bar owner Sean Cunningham, writer Glenn O’Brien and models Paul Boche, Ethan James, Andrea Diaconu and Yuri Pleskun.

“It’s a pretty eclectic group,” said Marcus Wainwright, co-founder and designer of the brand. “We don’t care if they’re recognizable. The point was to present a cross-section of people who we think are awesome or cool. You don’t have to be a celebrity to matter.” Despite the fact that a stylist worked hand by hand with the subjects of the exhibition, many of them customized their looks in order to manifest their personal sense of style, thing that added a genuine touch to the portraits. The exhibition was accompanied by an installation, featuring pieces from Rag & Bone’s s/s 2015 menswear collection hanging from the walls. “That referenced our first-ever look book that was shot in the same way,” noted Wainwright.
