Slow Factory’s nebula and supernova NASA scarves

Since we at HG Issue are already in a “feel the cosmos” mood, we couldn’t resist sharing with you one of our latest discoveries: the amazing nebula and supernova scarves by Slow Factory. Inspired by NASA’s publicly available satellite images, Slow Factory had the idea to create an entire collection of handcrafted, printed scarves that remind us that “we can find beauty and connection in the cosmos”. The limited-edition Fair Trade silk scarves are made in the brand´s factory in Bangalore, India, and are then shipped to Brooklyn, where they are packaged with care and are sent all over the world.

Slow Factory uses 100% organic fabrics, which are processed and treated with an environmentally friendly process. “We believe in slowing down to look at the big picture — whether it’s gazing at the stars to create sustainable fashion or breaking old boundaries to build new worlds” says Celine Semaan Vernon, Slow Factory´s founder, who after leaving her hometown of Beirut, Lebanon, lived for a period in Paris and Montreal, before finally establishing the company’s headquarters in New York. “Throughout it all, the stars always guided our travels and imagining space became a way to ground me. Because while I never had a traditional definition of home, I always felt comforted by the constant presence of the stars” she continues.

Slow Factory’s stellar fashion scarves take the cosmic energy to the next level, offering us the opportunity to explore our limits and become one with the universe. We leave you with one of Vernon’s favorite quotes, which reflects perfectly the philosophy behind the brand: “All of the rocky and metallic material we stand on, the iron in our blood, the calcium in our teeth, the carbon in our genes were produced billions of years ago in the interior of a red giant star. We are made of star-stuff.”— Carl Sagan.
