The Row takes luxury minimalism to the next level for fall 2015

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen continued their exploration of luxury minimalism and clean cut design in their latest fall 2015 collection for The Row, which was held some days ago on the 35th floor of New York’s Seagram Building, one of the most iconic designs of celebrated architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The collection was an impressive mix of oversized cashmere sweaters, austere double breasted suits paired with tailored trousers and long skirts, envelop folded tops, loose-fitted creamy pants and luxurious robe coats in silk and leather, all styled with some suede side-on slippers that accentuated the sense of comfort and elegance. A series of crocodile, kimono-inspired wrapped tops worn with obi-like belts was one of the collection’s greatest hits, as it was its somber color palette — black, navy blue, camel and rust.

The predominant long, almost ascetic silhouettes and the absence of any adornments, in combination with the rich materials, brought an uber cool sleekness to the collection. Making it the perfect fit for the opening of the brand’s first ever flagship store in New York that will debut later this year, the collection was received with great success, proving that minimalism is still alive and well. Notable guests included Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen’s younger sister, actress Elizabeth Olsen, celebrated stylists Rachel Zoe and Kate Young, as well the designers’ long time collaborator and renowned hair stylist Mark Townsend.
