LINE NEXT and Kaia partner to launch unify stablecoin app

Unify

TL;DR Breakdown

  • Kaia DLT Foundation and LINE NEXT partner to launch Unify stablecoin app
  • The app will integrate with LINE messenger, allowing users to seamlessly use both apps
  • Core features include stablecoin payments, remittances, saving yields, DeFi and Web3 consumer applications

Kaia DLT Foundation and LINE NEXT are partnering to bring stablecoin access to its 170 million active users. The project “Unify” aims to create a platform that operates both as a Standalone stablecoin super app and as a mini digital app (Dapp) integrated with LINE messenger. The platform would “unify” Asia’s scattered payment network by offering various regional stablecoins and supporting cross-border transactions.

LINE NEXT is the Web3 venture arm under the LINE Corporation that seeks to design and empower Web3 services such as blockchain-based Games, digital goods and NFTs. On the other hand, Kaia DLT Foundation is a UAE-registered non-profit body that governs and supports the growth of Kaia, a Layer-1 public blockchain network. Unify will operate as a Kaia-powered app integrated with LINE messenger bringing the best of both worlds to its customers.

Unify aims to secure mainstream adoption by allowing Asian users access to a cross-border transaction system that offers multiple regional stablecoins. The application would enable users to make instant cross-border payments via the messenger. Moreover, the application allows users to gain easy savings rewards by depositing stablecoins to earn incentives.

For developers, Kaia plans to offer a software development kit (SDK) that would enable both stablecoin issuers to distribute across borders to build liquidity and application developers to embed stablecoin utility into their apps.

Unify: Kaia Blockchain and LINE’s Web3 Vision

Kaia is a Layer-1 public blockchain with the goal of providing Web3 access to mainstream users who may not be as tech-savvy as crypto enthusiasts. The chain was created by merging Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE’s Finschia, combining their technologies and user base to build a stronger network.

For LINE, the development follows its January decision of platforming mini Dapps on the messenger. The platform saw instant growth and boasted over 35 million users by March. The Dapps platform was also made in collaboration with Kaia DLT Foundation.
